Dr. Ann W. Silk is a highly regarded medical oncologist at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Specializing in advanced and cutaneous skin cancers, she is widely recognized for her clinical expertise and cutting-edge research in therapeutic immunology.
Dr. Silk’s clinical practice and research are dedicated to improving outcomes for patients with complex, advanced skin malignancies, including:
- Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC)
- Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC)
- Basal cell carcinoma
- Melanoma
As a leading researcher in clinical immunology and oncology, she serves as a principal investigator on numerous clinical trials. Her specific research interests include intratumoral oncolytic viral therapy, cytokine (IL-2) therapy, macrophage-directed therapy, cancer vaccines, and treating brain metastases.
Dr. Silk earned her Medical Doctorate degree and Master of Science in Clinical Research from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Silk also completed her fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at the University of Michigan Hospitals.
Dr. Silk joined the faculty at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in 2019, where she now co-leads the Merkel Cell Carcinoma Center of Excellence. Board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology, she has authored over 150 medical publications and frequently leads international symposiums on skin cancer research.
